Donations and money

Start accepting donations

Three things have to be true. Two of them are your foundation’s job and one is yours.

A donation can only go through when all three of these are true. Check them in this order.

1. Your organization is live

Your foundation or district has to be switched on by Fundly. Until it is, your public pages do not render at all and your dashboard shows an amber notice saying so.

You cannot do this yourself and neither can your foundation. Only Fundly moves an organization to live. If your dashboard is showing that notice, ask whoever signed your agreement where it stands.

2. Your organization is connected to Stripe

Your foundation completes Stripe’s own onboarding once: their EIN, their verification documents, their bank account, entered directly with Stripe. It is a one time job for the organization, not a per program job, and it is done by your foundation’s admin, not by you.

Some booster clubs are separate nonprofits with their own Stripe account. If yours is, it uses its own and the money lands in its own bank. Otherwise it falls back to the organization’s. See Where the money goes.

3. Your program is open

This part is yours. On your dashboard, the donations tile at the top says what state you are in. Under it:

  1. 1.Set Opens on and Closes on if you want a window, then press Save these dates. Leave a box empty for no start or no end.
  2. 2.Press Open fundraising.

The tile at the top of the page changes to a sentence like "Open until 15 October". That sentence is the answer to "are we live", and it is the first thing to look at whenever you are not sure.
